A Waking Life.

Such emotional wrecks we are
Our actions blinded by an indelible scar
That heightens our sensitivity over the years
Making us hold back. Anything to block those jeers

Concluding at the stage of guilt,
Oh yes, how the suspense is built!
Of whether the pieces will fit together,
Of which emotion will be, of our own lives, the choreographer.

It just takes a moment,
A sudden clarity, wiping out what was poignant
What was once overwhelming
An indifference to what for an eternity was aching

A waking life this is truly
Transient, moving from light, dark, to blotchy,
Jerking us from our slumber
Ah! How much more sweeter it is opening a new chapter!
